Bolsa Chica is committed to being well prepared to face emergencies. Our Emergency Preparedness Committee provides information residents can use to prepare for emergencies, and to be safe during a disaster. The committee has prepared an Emergency Preparedness and Evacuation Plan that is updated annually and given to all residents of the park. The intent of the plan is for all residents to be aware of risks and to prepare; and to take protective action, communicate, and evacuate if necessary when an emergency occurs.

In order to aid residents efficiently and safely during an emergency, a group of 12 Emergency Response Coordinators has been formed. This emergency response program involves six teams consisting of two Emergency Response Coordinators in each team that will check on all the residents of the park during an emergency event.

Emergency situations have occurred in the past at BCME and should be anticipated in the future. We live in a close, age-specific community where even under normal conditions we are somewhat dependent on each other. It is likely that during an emergency, following public information sources, using efficient communication, and checking on each other will be the most important things we can do to prevent injuries or loss of life. Preparedness is everyone’s responsibility. During emergencies, disasters, and hazardous conditions, we at BCME are all in this together!
